During my years as the Creative Director for Bridal Guide Magazine I grew to love working with flowers, luxe fabrics, fine tableware and wedding gowns. I loved devising a narrative and picking out just the right things to tell that story.
My love for all things vintage first started as a way of connecting with my grandmothers, aunts and my mother. Just having a piece of their jewelry, a bag or sweater made me feel closer to them and now that they are all gone these beloved items are all I have left.
When cleaning out my mother's house I found treasures that inspired a return to my teenage hobbies of crafting and collecting. She saved everything, so naturally I inherited her passion for scavenging and saving. I incorporate these personal items when I style so there's always a lot of history and love within.
I am most inspired by the sunlight streaming in my window. I've done my best work choosing colors, textures and patterns with that light. Prop Closet is where I chronicle my ever-growing collection of resources and found objects and the art I create with these things.
I'm the Contributing Home Editor at Bridal Guide so I'm a regular at New York Bridal and Tabletop Markets. My styling specialties are in bridal fashion and accessories, food, crafts, tabletop, and still life. Jump on over to my portfolio to see my professional work and clients.
I teach a Photostyling class at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology and also teach one-on-one and consult with many aspiring stylists.
Please get in touch if you would like to work on a project together or just to say hi.
Have a beautiful day!

I could stay on your site forever, nothing but beauty everywhere. The story about your mother meeting you at the train with your grandmother's vintage teacups brought tears to my eyes. There's nothing like a mother.

Robin,
I am in love with your site. Whenever I need inspiration, I come here. I am an aspiring Photo Stylist with a love for all things Bridal. Your story is beautiful! My Grandmother is my sole reason and inspiration for my passion. She was an amazing woman. She stemmed my love of vintage and bridal very early on.
My dream was to always work in the bridal industry. So I wanted to ask, when you create your bridal concepts where do you get your ideas, do you start with New York Bridal Week or do you start with a simple concept and work from there?
Thank you!
Lindsay

Hi Lindsay
Thanks for your beautiful comment! Sounds like we have a lot in common in that we get inspired from our family members. I would say that New York Bridal Week is a great starting point for seeing the brilliant new collections from the fashion designers. A fashion shoot will definitely stem from the new trends seen there. If it's for my blog and a personal project, ideas will just pop into my head mostly when I am outside or playing around with my many props or inspiration boxes that I put together. Sometimes I will have a piece of fabric or an object lying around for years before I use it! Thanks again and stay in touch because there may be some workshops on the horizon!
